 Walking to Fix Our Democracy kicks off!

 Walking to Fix Our Democracy kicks off!

The Walk Has Begun!

Rick made a few short remarks as he kicked off the walk Saturday, October 1st, 2022 at Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena California. He then headed east on a journey that is expected to exceed 3,000 miles over the next 16 months.

Here’s the link: https://youtu.be/MavXhSmNsNw

En route – every neighborhood, community, town/city, and state present an opportunity to connect with Rick and collaborate with local organizers, activists and diverse groups for an event to raise the importance of fixing our democracy most effectively when he arrives.

It’s shake-out time during the first part of the walk across the less populated desert areas and communities.

We’ll be working to improve our walk communication, the daily walking routine, and breaking in Rick and his very tender feet to a target schedule of 10 miles a day – 5 days a week.

Check out his progress via this daily blog on the website

Important Additional Information – and steps you can take.

Introducing Walking To Fix Our Democracy

Introducing Walking To Fix Our Democracy

Heard of Walking to Fix Our Democracy?  http://www.fixourdemocracy.us

To be sure you have, I’m sending this email to all who have been previously involved with walking for a better democracy in New Hampshire, whether for The New Hampshire Rebellion or the Coalition For Open Democracy.

This walk was originally inspired by Granny D and now is sparked by me — Rick Hubbard — who, joined and supported by others, will begin walking across America from Los Angeles about October 1st, 2022 to engage in as many events along the way as possible, and finish with an event at the steps of our Capitol in Washington D.C. about 16 months later.

We all know that Fixing Our Democracy is urgent these days. This is a way you can take action that will get noticed by candidates and the media, whether it’s supporting the walk across America, or helping to organize walks and actions in your own community, or some combination of both.

Walking to Fix Our Democracy has Several Purposes:

  • to raise awareness about the need, and ways, to fix our democracy;
  • to link up with, celebrate, and support state and local activist efforts along the route;
  • to encourage short walks for the same purpose on specific, coordinated dates in communities across America; and
  • to encourage candidates for Congress and other levels of government to make fixing our democracy their lead issue.

Our team will make the case that fixing our democracy first is the quickest and most effective way to avoid autocracy and unlock progress on every other issue important to us all: climate change; health care; education; infrastructure; voting rights; financial protections; consumer protections; and much, much more.

Would you like to be involved?

Please check out the website and consider signing up – whether as a supporter, or as one of the many different types of volunteers needed, or to help organize and participate in actions in your own community, or to help in other ways.

If you have further questions please feel free to contact me directly.

Thanks!
